Appetite Suppressants seem to have a bad reputation, I think for good reason. However, all the obesity research that suggests a strong underlying biological drive to consume a predestined number of calories makes me wonder if an appetite suppressant might not be the best hope for a "silver bullet" (akin to statins for combating cholesterol). IF a safe appetite suppressant could be found, without substantial/widespread side-effects (this is currently hypothetical, AFAIK, but the analogy to statins, with their low incidence of side-effects, is what I am thinking of), it seems like it would be a well-matched approach, if a primary cause is indeeed the drive to eat. (Although I think it is a huge factor, I still have some qualms about over-identification of the biological drive as the sole, overwhelming cause of obesity, as it sometimes seems to be portrayed.)
