The third time's the charm for Spirit the Mars rover. After two cancellations, the probe was successfully launched atop a Boeing Delta 2 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida at 18:58:47 Irish Summer Time. Spirit then successfully separated from the third stage booster and is now on course to touch down in Gusev Crater on Mars on January 4 2004. Opportunity, the second rover, is scheduled for launch on June 25 and will land at Meridiani Planum on January 25, 2004.
