I live in a development with apartments and townhouses. Our rubbish is carried away by a private contractor and the common areas are maintained by another contractor. We also have common insurance policies for fire and public liability. As a result we have to pay an annual fee. I've been paying in monthly installments. However some people haven't and as a result, there isn't enough money in the kitty to pay for insurance and for lighting the common areas. Now, fair enough, there was a dispute about the way the amounts were calculated but this was rectified. But there are still some residents who feel they shouldn't have to pay because it's too much. Well, tomorrow they're cutting off the electricity and the insurance. Without insurance, I am in violation of the terms of my mortgage and without lighting for the common areas the risk of accident escalates, not to mention the fact that the gates to the complex won't be working.
At this point in time, I am quite annoyed as I am sure those of my neighbours who have been paying are.
