I'm not really one for being political about anything but when it affects me from buying my allergy medicine over the counter, then I've got an opinion. As you probably know from previous posts I was really sick last month and I had to buy sudafed for my ear drum problem and cough syrup with codeine for my cough - ok no big deal right? Today I went to buy some allergy medicine - Claritin D and I couldn't buy more than one 10 pack because according to Rite Aid, I had exceeded my limit of any drugs containing pseudoephedrine. I first had to show ID and swipe my ID card to be able to buy Claritin D and when I bought the sudafed I had to sign my life away. The federal government is now tracking how much drugs containing pseudoephedrine that you buy in a month's period and if you have exceeded your limit then you can't purchase any more unless you have a prescription which your health insurance may not cover since you can purchase it over the counter. And apparently the limit not calendar month but 30 day purchase because I bought Sudafed in April and technically it should restart my count as of the first right? Nope, I bought Sufaded around mid April, so I can't buy anymore Claritin D mid-May.

Rite Aid itself needs to post the federal government guidelines somewhere so people don't get angry about why they can't buy their allergy or sinus medicine if they used their alloted quota for the month and what a month is.

Honestly, the war on drugs has gotten out of hand. I bet 80% or maybe closer to 90% of the population has no idea how to make meth from pseudoephedrine (Claritin D or Sudafed) or would even want to. We just want our damn allergy medicine. A 10 supply isn't going to help me during allergy season. A 20 day supply in one month isn't going to help me either since the allergy usually last the whole month - I need a 30 day supply.

And since I'm the curious type - I checked it out - most drug dealers I've known in the past aren't that smart. You would have to have a chemistry degree to figure out how to make meth from pseudoephedrine (Claritin D or Sudafed).

Here's another article  and another if you're interested in reading more about the law or another site about how to make meth

I do not advocate making meth whatsoever since I'm a recovering addict and that was my drug of choice and I know first hand what damage it can cause and how damn hard it is to get off of it. But its ridicilous that I have to suffer during allergy season because a some people know how to make meth from Claritin D or Sudafed. Are they also going to start restricting the purchase of pool chemicals, lye, iodine, engine starting fluid, coffee filters, matches and distilled water + a few other common items you can buy at any hardware store too because those items are also needed to make meth? x
