damn it today is suppose to be my day off - but so far I've answered 3 tigger problems and my insurance guy - he's pissing me off. I had an appt with him today at 4pm so I went and he flaked again, he said our appt was at 10am. No, it was at 10am last week, this week we had scheduled for 4pm. I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for 3 months now for him to get me a quote for business liability insurance and I finally had to tell him it appeared he didn't want my business and I would go somewhere else for him to get on the ball and get me a quote. So his office today gave me the application for professional liability insurance - WTF? that is not what I asked for. Its quite possible I need it but its not what I asked for. I asked for Business Liability Insurance and Worker's Comp Insurance. So I checked it out and found these definitions:
General Liability and Property Package coverage is the most basic type of commercial insurance and is limited to liability claims of bodily injury or property damage. Coverage is provided for accidents on your premises or at your customer's location. Some client contracts also refer to these policies as Comprehensive Commercial Liability. It is important to remember that these policies exclude errors and omissions type claims related to the delivery of your professional services.
Typically offered as a general liability and property package policy, coverage is also provided for theft or destruction of your company's computer hardware and software and other assets such as office furnishings and equipment up to a specified amount. Professional Liability Insurance (Errors and Omissions Insurance) ; is your most critical coverage. Professional liability coverage protects you against loss from a claim of alleged negligent acts, errors or omissions in the performance of your professional services. This might include loss of client data, software or system failure, claims of non-performance, or negligent oversell. Be sure your professional liability policy includes the following key features:
Coverage includes legal defense cost. Professional liability insurance will pay for any resulting judgments against you including court costs up to the coverage limits on your policy. Coverage extends to both W2 employees and 1099 subcontractors. Coverage should protect your company from claims resulting from the work done by 1099 subcontractors on your behalf. (It is important to note that 1099 personnel need their own errors and omissions insurance because your policy does not defend them if they are sued separately or in addition to you.) Optional coverage for allegations of Copyright Infringement and Intellectual Property Infringement. Intellectual Property Infringement coverage protects you against claims alleging copyright infringement. Software, systems or processes are some of the most commonly known "intellectual properties." Personal Injury. Personal injury protects you against claims of libel, slander, and invasion of privacy.
Worker's Compensation Insurance is required by regulation in most states when you have W2 employees. It provides medical and disability coverage for on-the-job injuries or work related illness.
What is pissing me off, is that I asked for a specific type of insurance - business liability insurance and workers comp - that I know Farmer's Insurance carries and I'm still not getting what I asked for - WTF is the problem? This guy has been my agent for over 10yrs and he's generally a nice guy and has helped me with my auto insurance questions in the past. Why can't a business just get the insurance they requested and some explanation of what the insurance covers, how much it is and within a timely matter.
Anyone know someone that can help me with insurance? That will be there at the scheduled appt time and not flake on me and can explain what I'm paying for??? Spmeone that actually wants my business because now I'm ready to change agents and along with that goes my auto insurance and eventually my homeowner's insurance
