i use yahoo email for my personal email and occasionally my business, I pay for the premium service to be able to download my email messages into my Outlook - couple of reasons, I like the ability to have them on my computer just in case and I can save them into folders and my yahoo box doesn't get overloaded with my messages and it helps control spam, plus I get my own domain name with the small business package.
Tuesday night the ability to download messages from my yahoo address has all but stopped, I can send out but not receive anything. I call tech support - idiots, reading from a script going through everything I had tried before I called them, I asked for higher level of tech support, the person I was talking to told me that the higher level of tech support doesn't have a phone which is a bunch of bs.
Then I realized the yahoo beta program apparently doesn't give you all your messages and yes, I know better, I should have waited til the beta went to real instead of using it, so I switched back to the original yahoo mail program, found messages that were never downloading and seemed to be stuck.
So I tried to forward the important messages to another email address, no luck, definetly something stuck. I tried to print out the few important emails - still nada. I did a screen print to save them to a word doc - then printed them out. Then deleted all my messages in my yahoo mail program online thinking that maybe something was stuck. Still no luck.
I've searched and searched and there are no answers to what is going on, yahoo and sbc yahoo or who ever the hell they are now - keeps telling everyone, its not their issue. Personally, I think someone was playing around with the servers at yahoo and broke something.
What pisses me off the most, I pay for a service and I'm not getting the service and I almost missed a very important email from my mom. Thank god, I told most of my clients to update their email address for me to my business email last month and I haven't missed any business emails.
Here's the error message in case anyone else is getting it or has any ideas:
Task 'pop.mail.yahoo.com - Receiving' reported error (0x80042110) : 'Your POP3 server is providing inconsistent information. The number of messages returned by the STAT command does not match the number of items returned by the UIDL or LIST commands. Contact your POP3 or Internet service provider.
And if you want to read the stupid dialog between me and yahoo the other day, go read this blog, its generally the same conversation I had - almost word for word
Yahoo Premium Email service just lost a customer, I'm switching my domain over to someone else and my email too, if Yahoo can't be up front and honest about something they caused, why would I want to keep paying for the service? Free yahoo, you get what you get for a free service but a service you pay for especially since its Yahoo you should be able to get tech support that actually can help you.
