I worried about my decision all night and didn't sleep a wink, tossing and turning yet I knew I had to carry through and deal with it but having to tell her was really hard for me and when I told her she was like no problem - I knew you weren't ready for this and gave me back my keys. I gave her last check and a severance pay for 1 week and she left. I told her that I would refer back any clients that she referred to me that were personal friends of hers and anyone that pans out for the marketing list she sent out - I would give her a referral commission for them - she did the work and if any work comes this way, I'd use her as a project bookkeeper, she said ok but I don't think she was interested. Laying off someone due to lack of work is hard but I have my space back and while I feel good that I have my space back and my home back to myself, it still sucks to have to lay someone off. I liked her.
Growing this little company of mine, its not the right time, I need to concentrate on the clients I have and do a good job for them. I need to work at my own speed and my weird night hours and eventually when its the right time, I need to hire someone that has more skills and is a night owl.
now must go to bank, so her last checks don't bounce..
