My newest and latest project is figuring out how to re-engineer the electronics in a sliding cat door to either work with image recognition software of a paw print such as the flo control theory or potentially re-engineering a UK product to work with US microchips - seriously others have thought about it and all those cat flaps that use collars out there, what if collar breaks away, then the cat is stuck outside? that doesn't make sense. I've emailed both sources to see if one they think their ideas can be re-engineered or if they offer a US version that works with US microchip and I wonder if its just the type of scanner that needs to be switched out and the power source that needs to be switched out..and on that note, maybe the electronics in the sliding door can be switched out with the microchip scanner/power source to create a new product..I guess I could buy both products and see if I could figure out how to switch it all out and create something new....hmmm, its an idea.
Another project which has been in the back of my head for awhile is the Motion Sensor Watering System, do your cats love to drink out of a dripping faucet instead of their water bowls. My cats love drinking out of the tub, even the one who doesn't like to get her feet wet, has figured out if she stands on the side of the tub, she can reach the dripping water and while I have no problem leaving the water dripping day and night, I'd love to have something that turns it on when they want it and is quiet. There is a WaterDog system for outdoor faucets. And there are plenty of water things for cats but they are noisy and cats don't like noise near their water - at least mine don't. So I'm thinking I'll modify the WaterDog system to work with my tub faucet somehow and its battery operated
