Renegades of the Empire
Just finished reading this book. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available at Amazon. Instead, I checked it out of Microsoft's library (yeah, we have one and it seems to have everything I am interested in - instead of buying books every month, I go to Amazon and see what I am interested in and then see if it is available in our library, probably saved myself $100 in the past couple months).
I was interested because it talks about the "old days" of evangelism (that was before the term got used loosely by everyone). It is an interesting read although I think it comes off more dramatic than it really was (except for the infighting - which is normal around MS). It describes the development of Chrome (very rich multimedia browser that would be charged for and would work on high performance machines) and the struggle to make it happen. It gives great insight into the inner workings of Microsoft. It was surreal that one of the primary people in the book, Alex St. John, I met in a meeting just a couple months ago.
If you find the book, pick it up, it's a great read and see what it takes to make something happen at Microsoft.
