Alan's memorial was very well attended. It was standing room only. "He was a small man but he left behind very big shoes to fill," said faculty member Richard Craig. Dr. Wilcox, the director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, was the host of the memorial. Dean Ego, and others spoke, and then it came time for students to add their memories and comments.
Many students came forward with their tributes. So many in fact that at one point it had to be cut short. We were running out of time! Time had to be made for faculty, staff and others to speak.
In addition to students; faculty, staff, alums and even a counselor came forward to talk about this man, so short in stature, so tall in impact.
I cannot recall a person who, in just two years at SJSU, made such an impact, who left such a mark. He did with me. We lost a real good one!
