Another day in Paradise
Steve Sloan's weblog. A bit tech, a bit bikes, a bit family, a bit friends, a bit scooters, a bit photo, a bit trains, a bit fun. Eight bits; that's a byte!

I did it!

Barry Gwin in front of his scooter shop
I pretty much had to do it now or risk the voiding of my scooter warranty. So, on Saturday I rode my scooter to San Francisco. The trip was complicated by the fact that I have been sick. It was a lovely day and the weather was really warm. I came into San Francisco on the El Camino Real, which turns into Mission. The scooter shop is at 10th and Mission.

Riding down through the heart of the Mission on a scooter on a hot Saturday is a real experience. It is like being in a foriegn country. It is a part of the city the tourists don't see. I believe they are missing out. To me it was an overwhelming sensory experience full of cool sights, smells and sounds. The Muni busses, the double parkers and the crazed city drivers kept me on my toes!

By the time I got home I was feeling pretty awful, but my scooter was serviced!

We saw three movies this weekend. "Best of Show," a somewhat funny movie about dog shows. "Under the Tuscan Sun," a really beautiful movie if you like Tuscany and don't care that it is nothing like the book. "Shower," a great Chineese movie about father-son relationships.
