Nake-id Knits lies like a rug
Audrey in limbo: I know I promised an FO today, but...since I'm new to the vagaries of original design, I wasn't prepared for the futzing that accompanies the finishing process.
Want the gories?
Not happy with the edge I chose for the neckline--pick up stitches, knit one row, purl one row, bind off knitwise--I frogged it, opting for a pick-up-bind-off edge. Simple, elegant, but, damn, the neckline still rolls. I'm hoping wet blocking will solve it, unless any of you have a better idea? Hmmm?
Wove in all loose ends, tore off my shirt and tried it on. Vavoom! Fit like a dream. (You blog dudettes who wax rhapsodic about waist shaping know your stuff.) But (there's always a but) the picot edging around the arms looked like epilets on a Kling-on uniform. Dork-o-rama. Sorry, Mom, but they gotta go.
So...tonight's project: Rip out picot hems around arms in favor of...you guessed it...the ol' pick-up-bind off trick. Then I'll bend that mercerized cotton to my will. You'll never survive wet blocking. Never!
