Information Radio
Monitoring in Egypt, Finland and The Netherlands today failed to produce any sign of US psyops station Information Radio on 4500 kHz. Jari Savolainen reported to Hard Core DX that he scanned the 4 MHz band for possible replacement frequencies but found nothing. If anyone finds Information Radio on a new frequency, please E-mail us to let us know.

Salman in Baghdad
Lou Josephs has found an Australian blog which carries worrying news about Salman Pax, the 'Baghdad blogger'. It says "A colleague has emailed me to say that, according to Al Jazeera, Salam Pax is wounded in hospital. He seems to be in the city of Najaf. The doctor said that he was on his computer when his house was hit by a bomb."
This is interesting, as there has been some speculation about the real identity of Salman Pax, and whether he really lives in Baghdad. Notwithstanding that, I hope he makes a good recovery. This guy is certainly no supporter of Saddam Hussein, and I hope he survives to enjoy better times under a new regime.

Idiot of the week award
The only connection this has with media is that it ought to be on one of those 'funniest home videos' programmes. Coming out of Radio Netherlands on a bright, sunny evening I got as far as the little cafe called Studio 13 which is just outside Radio Netherlands, As usual, a number of people had parked their cars in spaces between the trees. You can actually see this area on our Webcam. I was just turning to say good evening to the security man who guards the rear entrance to the adjacent media park, when we heard the shattering of glass. We looked over and saw a car whose rear window had been smashed completely out, and there was a big dent in the back of the vehicle. The driver had backed his car into one of the trees! Then we saw him get out, looking bemused, as if he didn't realise the tree was there. I think he must have pressed his accelerator instead of his brake to do that much damage. The tree, I'm happy to say, was unscathed. But I am left wondering what the heck this guy is going to write on his insurance claim form! I wonder if anyone did happen to catch it on the Webcam?
