BBC free to air on Astra 2D as of today
Over the past few hours the BBC has been removing encryption from its digital TV services broadcast on the Astra 2D satellite. The process began at 0400 UTC and is expected to be completed within the next couple of hours. This means that, for the first time, TV viewers within the footprint of the Astra 2D satellite (which includes, amongst other areas, the whole of Benelux) can view BBC transmissions on any satellite receiver without the need for a viewing card and Sky digibox. The full range of BBC regional variations is available. The full list of stations and settings is:

Ray Woodward in the UK also reports that BBCi (the Interactive service) can also be seen via Free To Air receivers (10.847GHz V and 12.441 GHz V). BBCi is "hidden" from the Sky Digibox "Add Channels" facility. On a Digibox the service is accessed automatically by pressing the red button on the remote when tuned to a BBC channel.
