Adios Radio 10
Our colleagues from radio 10 FM are due to move out of their temporary studio at Radio Netherlands tomorrow. They will take up permanent residence at the HQ of Talpa Radio, alongside Noordzee FM. I've read some rather unfair comments in the Dutch media forums about the technical problems they've been having at our place. The people who make such comments clearly understand little about broadcasting: the guys came in with no time to practice on a very different desk to the one they're used to. As the studio is not designed for self-op, they were using the control room which is configured quite differently to a normal self-op desk.
Despite this, I listened to Dave Donkervoort this afternoon and he did one of the best Radio 10 shows I've heard in ages. The guy has a great radio voice and a wonderful sense of humour. His stunt of ringing up a plumber and pretending (with the aid of sound effects) to be struggling with a leaking tap was brilliant - especially when he altered the audio to make his voice sound as if it was gurgling. Quite brilliant, and I'm sorry I didn't get it on tape.
Whatever happens to Radio 10, the presenters are sure to find other good jobs in radio here. It was fun having them around for the past week.
