As expected, and on a voice vote, the Federal Communications Commission approved changes to the ownership rules of broadcast media outlets today. Here are a few links to the news items (Reuters, Free Press, John Nichols/The Nation). NPR and "All Things Considered" had a pretty good (audio) story. (need RealAudio or Windows Media to hear--links to both on the linked page) Strikingly, Trent Lott was among the Congress-types opposing further deregulation. I am pleased to report that both of Wisconsin's US Senators, Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold, issued press releases against the decision.
This ball is now in Congress' court. A movement must be built that cannot be stopped. So what else is new?
