4G To The Rescue

InfoWorld author Ephraim Schwartz reports that 4G, the next generation of wireless data services is just around the corner, and that products may be seen in 2004.  It can't happen too soon for the police agencies and others who feel abandoned by AT&T when they dropped CDPD, but CDPD never had the throughput to be useful for submitting field incident reports.  According to Schwartz, the next new wave will have over 3 Mbps download speeds, a far cry from the maybe 12Kbps realistic throughput that CDPD offered.
