Integration layer for Web Services
The evolution from creating XML documents to the use of Web Services to connect disparate legacy systems is the direction of most agencies interested in integrated justice systems. The ultimate goal of this trend is the use of Web Services in Enterprise Appliction Integration, giving developers a much easier way to connect various legacy systems in criminal justice. For making this bridge a reality, Ronan Bradley of Polarlake discusses the need for a new integration layer known as the Enterprise Service Bus. This concept directly addresses some of the critical steps in building integrated justice information systems.

Another step towards easy interoperability
W3C finalizes SOAP 1.2 standard. The World Wide Web Consortium's finalization of the SOAP 1.2 is expected to reduce the chance of vendors building SOAP implementations that aren't interoperable and gives users more choices beyond HTTP for sending their XML-based messages. [Computerworld News]

Bluetooth Lives!
There is now actually a Bluetooth blog! Keeps up with the news about Bluetooth expansions. One of the highlights is Franklin Covey is actually going to release a Bluetooth pen so allegedly you can take notes and have them appear on your PDA or laptop or cell phone. Mind-boggling.
