Hey, this just in from the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters! I'm
posting a press release from Anne Sayers in its entirety, as it is
pretty self explanatory. We've finally got a quick way to see how our
state legislators vote on key conservation issues. Check this site
often, and you may see some surprises!

Conservation Vote Tracker Unveiled: Citizens Offered an Easy Way to Track the Conservation Votes of Their Legislators
Madison- The Conservation Vote Tracker, unveiled today by the
non-partisan Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters, provides a
new, up-to-date way to follow the votes made by state legislators
on issues affecting Wisconsin's natural resources and public health.
The Conservation Vote Tracker is an electronically-based record of many
votes made on issues of importance to Wisconsin's conservation,
environmental, and sporting communities.
"In recent years, some legislators have been voting as if they thought
no one was watching. With the Conservation Vote Tracker, there
can be no denying that those who care about Wisconsin's natural
resources and public health are watching the positions being taken by
those elected to represent our values," said Anne Sayers, Program
Director of the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters.
The Conservation Vote Tracker includes tables with each legislator's
name and district number followed by their vote on a series of
conservation issues. For each issue included in the Vote Tracker, there
is a brief description of the issue, a status update explaining where
the issue currently is in the legislative process, and a determination
of the proconservation vote. The Vote Tracker will be updated
continually and can be found at http://www.conservationvoters.org/votetracker/05/.
"The Conservation Vote Tracker is a resource for citizens across
Wisconsin. As we've worked with citizens from Racine to Eau
Claire to Green Bay, we've realized that citizens increasingly
recognize that their legislators aren't voting the way they'd like them
to. The Vote Tracker enables those citizens to hold legislators
accountable to the issues that affect the air they breathe, the water
they drink, and the lands where they recreate," concluded Sayers.
Legislators are notified of the issues that will be tracked via the
publication "Conservation Notices of the Week" or Conservation NOW,
which can be found at http://www.conservationvoters.org/policypositions.shtml.
Votes displayed on the Conservation Tracker may, but will not
necessarily, be included in the Interim Conservation Scorecard 2005 and
the Conservation Scorecard 2006.
