Of course, we had to get the heaviest snow of the winter so far the very day I have to drive to Illinois for the Northwest Chicago Sports Show! Took me an hour to get enough snow off the truck and move the three-foot drift the snowplow left at the end of the driveway. Shivani helped, tho I tried to get her to take it easy. When I left, she was using the 18-foot snow rake to clear off the roof!

Pam Behling, who manages the services of hundreds of volunteers for the Channel 10/36 Friends, convinced me yesterday afternoon NOT to tow our raffle boat to Arlington Park. Boy, is she smart! Instead, we borrowed a Crestliner photo CD from Cedar Lake Sales and she crafted a nice poster at the Arlington Kinko's (tho she says the folks there are not as friendly as they are at the Kinko's in Milwaukee...).

I made it to Arlington with minutes to spare before security closed the gates to the trackside loading area, got my stuff unloaded (with a lot of help from Roger Seefeld) and set up shop. Pam came in just as the show was opening at 3:00, having been slowed by two major accidents that occurred AFTER I had passed those points en route.

So, we're ready for business. Come on down! If you've never been to Arlington, I'll tell you what, a horse track is about the neatest venue for a sports show I've ever seen. I'll be a guest on the Mad Dog & Merrill Show on WHBY Radio (Appleton) Friday morning from 11:30 to noon, and I'll be calling in from the show. I'll do my best to describe the location and the show, but my words won't do it justice. Hop on I-94 toward Chicago, get off on Lake-Cook Rd. and then take 53 south to Euclid and follow the signs to the track.

The show runs through Sunday. Come on down Saturday, so you can watch the Packers pull a hat trick on the Vikes on Sunday.

Check out the website. I gotta get some sleep.

later...
