If you're shopping for fishing tackle, you'll find some real bargains at the NW Chicago Sports Show at Arlington Park through Sunday. I managed to slip away from our booth for a short time today and found some great selections of rods, reels and lures at numerous booths on both floors at Arlington Park Race Track. That's right, this is a sports show at a race track! And in our booth, we are featuring Wayne and Bruce Johnson, inventors of the Fillet King fillet and cutting board. They brought a cooler full of fresh-caught panfish with them and will be filletting them all weekend to show you how to save time with your filletting chores. We'll also be cooking up the panfish as they fillet them, using Legendary Northwoods Panfish Breading. You can pick up both the boards and the breading at our booth, along with tickets to take a chance on a Crestliner 16-foot Canadian boat, Mercury 40 HP outboard, Shoreland'R trailer and more. Stop by and say hello at least! Oh, and right across from us, you can meet world-famous fisherman, Mick Thill, who helped bring European-style fishing to North America. Mick is a seminar waiting to happen. Just ask him anything about fishing and you'll get a lesson you'll never forget.

Among other exhibits, you won't want to miss the Historical Fishing Display, straight from Naper Settlement in Naperville, Ill. Dan Basore has more antique lures than I've ever seen in one place. The sad part is my grandfather had a bunch of lures like these years ago, and I think my brothers and I actually fished with them and lost most of them!!!

I'll be cooking salmon using Darryl Baker's Salmon Supreme recipe Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 on the Outdoor Life Stage on the second level. Stop in for a free sample.

This morning, I had a nice visit with Mad Dog and Merrill, live on their WHBY Radio show just before the sports show opened. Tomorrow, I'll talk with Steve Sarley, of Outdoors Experience Radio, live at 7:45 a.m.

Time for bed if I'm gonna get up and try to make sense on live radio before 8 a.m!

Later...
