Today was the last day of the Northwest Chicago Sports Show, and of
course the Packers played the Vikings at 3:30. When it came close
to game time, I took Linda Scherr over to the Nitschke's Northern
Resort booth for a good-luck photo. Just at kick-off, I snapped
Linda with Richard Nitschke. Unfortunately, the photo didn't
bring the Pack any good luck. It was a sad ride home listening to
that last Vikings drive in the 4th quarter that sealed it. Not
nearly as sad as it was for the Packers to get beat that way.
The show was a success from my vantage point. We sold a few
raffle tickets on our boat and introduced the Fillet King to the
Chicago market. Promoter Chuck Collins was happy when I last saw
him. Most of the vendors seemed to be smiling today, although they
would have preferred not to have to take all that unsold merchandise
home.
No sports show next week, but there is a sporting clays shoot sponsored
by Wishigan Outdoors. I'll dig out the info on that and post it
in a day or two. Then, on Jan. 20, Wayne and Bruce will join me
at the Germantown Gander Mountain store for an in-store demo of the
Fillet King board. They'll be filleting some panfish again and
Denise Dexter, Fillet King's marketing guru, will fry them up for you
to taste. Me, I'll just hang around and help answer questions
about Fillet King. The Johnson brothers will stay in Milwaukee
that weekend and put in an appearance at the Wisconsin Boat Show at
State Fair Park, where they will again do a filleting demo in the
Outdoor Wisconsin booth, so if you missed it in Chicago or can't make
it to Germantown, you'll have another shot at seeing them in action at
the Wisconsin Boat Show.
Later...
