OK, gang. Here's the photo I tried to take yesterday.
That's Wayne Johnson (white hat), about to start on his umpteenth
perch, while brother Bruce watches his technique to see if he can learn
something. We kept them both busy all day, filleting some of
those panfish they brought down here to Arlington Park for the
Northwest Chicago Sports Show. They'll be here tomorrow, too,
because they've got some fish left. You've got time to some down
early, cruise through the show, and then get home in time for the
Packers/Vikings game.
Hey, you missed a real treat today. Linda Scherr, one of our
booth babes, wore her Packers muskie cheesehead hat, made by Jeff
Kahlow of Big Guy Hats in Fond du Lac. Linda had fun all day long
giving Bears fans a hard time (which is not tough to do). Then
along came Ed Schindler, who asked Linda if she could name five famous
Packers from the Vince Lombardi era. "Sure," she said. "Max
McGee, Paul Hornung, Ray Nitschke..." Ed stopped her there and
introduced her to Ray's son, Richard, who had been hanging back a
little. (They played this game with me yesterday and I named Ray
first, which impressed both of them.) Tears welled up in Linda's
eyes and she gave Richard a big hug. He is here at the show
promoting his family resort in Minocqua. Of course, I forgot to
photograph that scene! Tomorrow, I'll shoot a few frames of Linda
and Richard and post them tomorrow night after the BIG GAME.
Wanna know my scenario for a Packers trip to Super Bowl XXXIX?
Packers win tomorrow and next week at Atlanta, somebody beats Philly
and then comes to Lambeau for Game Three, which the Packers win. Whadda ya think?
I did tell you I'm in the Packers Hall of Fame, right? Yup.
A photo of me wearing one of Jeff Kahlow's hats (a buck with a cheese
wedge in his mouth) was one of several Jeff sent the team when they
loved the huge Packers Ultimate Mascot/Fan costume he wore to a game
last season and invited him to send some stuff for the fans section of
the HOF. I don't know if it's still there or not, but a photo of
me and one of Ted Nugent wearing Jeff's hats were both on
display. Check it out next time you're up in Green Bay.
(For the NFC Championship Game, for instance...)
Gotta get some sleep for the final day of the show.
Later...
