Today, I'm in Redmond sitting at the first day of the Whidbey SDR.  They are showing some nice enhancements that will make .NET development even easier and more powerful than with Everett.

At the moment, I'm watching a demonstration on the .NET CF and hearing about the plans for new features. Wow! I can't wait until these bits come out.  Be sure to checkout the Smart Device Community site for more info on this.  For sure, we'll know more in the PDC timeframe.

Last night, I had dinner with some RD's  and some other notables at a cool place called the Red Hook Brewery.  If you come to the Seattle/Redmond area, I recommend the place especially if you like beer.  I'm a sweet tea connoisseur, myself.  But it is an interesting place and the beer drinking RD's really liked it.

While there, I met Ingo Rammer who everyone knows as the author of the most read .NET Remoting text known to man.  If you want to know about Remoting, get this book from Apress.  Even though we met last week at WIN-DEV in Boston, this time we sat down and talked about what he is doing.

I also met Mike Sax of Sax Software, who is known for filling in the gap in ther area of components.  They created a RS232 component long ago.   Now, they have a .NET Component coming.  In the near future, he'll have a .NET Compact Framework version of the serial component.  Keep up the good work, Mike!

Today, I'm sitting next to Scott  Stanfield, the CEO of Vertigo Software and the RD from San Francisco.  What's Scott known for, you ask?  How about IBuySpy, TaskVision and PocketVision, ASP.NET Starter Kits, for starters. He's one of the stars in the RD program.

Tim Landgrave is sitting in front of me.  He is the RD from Louisville.  Not only is he a contributor at TechRepublic, he also has a mobility focus while being the CEO at eAdvantage.  They are doing some cool things with the .NET Compact Framework.

Tonight, the SDR attendees go to the Rock Bottom Brewery where I will again be refused a glass of Sweet Tea.  I will buying a beer, though not for me.  It will be for losing a bet to Gregor Noriskin, from the Microsoft CLR Perf Team, who won his beer by beating my TechEd presentation score.  We had performance talks scheduled at the same exact time, and ideas for my conent came from him.  So the master scores higher than the pupil...

More tomorrow.
