Kids, kids, kids. Today, for encouraging a group of young men loitering in the hall to move on, I was told "f*** you". If I had the time, I could go down to the cafeteria at lunch time to point him out to the assistant principal or someone who could tell me his name and we could discipline him. But did I have that time? Perhaps I'll catch up to him one day. What I would do is call his parent myself and explain what happened and assign him detention in my classroom. Getting the administration to deal with it only makes you "a snitch" and their enemy. Dealing with them yourselves earns respect. Then he wouldn't mess with me anymore. Anyway, The amount of ignorance we see day to day is tragic.
The amount of disruption in the halls during classtime has become a distraction to learning.
Later in the morning was condescended to by an unhappy counselor who thinks it's her job to dump her job on other (albeit more competent) people.
