Urban Educ8r: A Wickerblog
This weblog is dedicated primarily to the discussion of Education issues and policies, as well as to chronicling the author's experiences as an inner-city school teacher. These days, the education discussion is too much in the hands of ignorant politicians merely doing what they need to gain re-election, and not enough in the hands of knowledgable professionals with first hand experience.

On elections and questionable voter registration

It's shameful that the largest, and historically one of the leading states in the nation, still doesn't have everyone using computerized voting machines, when Georgia had it done over a year ago--in time for its gubernatorial election. But anyway, this reminds me of something very interesting that took place at school last year at this time. All the members of the senior class who were of age were assembled in the auditorium, and instructed to complete their voter registration applications. Not a bad way to get young voters on the roll. Aye, but some of my immigrant students--merely following instructions--filled out the formsas well. Lo and behold, a few weeks later, these students, who are non-citizens of the United States, received their voter registration cards...things that make you go hmmmmm.
