From a Drudge developing story: On MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Mathews", presidential contender Howard Dean is suggesting that if elected he would work towards breaking up the media conglomerates. In typical never-finish-a-thought Hardball style, Dean still got his point across.
MATTHEWS: Are you going to break up the giant media enterprises in this country?
DEAN: Yes, we`re going to break up giant media enterprises. That doesn`t mean we`re going to break up all of GE.
If Dean sticks to his guns on this, he certainly has riveted my attention. The consolodation of media outlets has been scaring the hell out of this voter for many years. I am impressed that Dean is going to tackle the issue, but not surprised.
As Ed Cone's case study of Dean's diffuse and grassroots campaign reveals, that organization is the very antithesis of big media.
