The City of Greensboro has been reticent to hire additional police officers for several years because of the associated costs to its citizens.  Here are the true costs of not doing so. 

Out of America's 100 largest metros, the Triad ranks 39th worst for crime.  This ranking puts us behind many metros that "common wisdom" says are more crime ridden than the Triad:  Washington DC, New York City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Detroit and Chicago - to name a few.  (Thanks Roch)
