The Rhino quotes (not posted yet) Guilford County Republican Chairman and County Commissioner candidate Marcus Kindley today when asked to respond to Commissioner Billy Yow's abject racism.  Sez Kindley, "The Guilford County Republican Party does not condone this type of T-shirt".

Kindley doesn't renounce Yow's actions and the pure-d racism that he represents... no dear reader.. he condemns "...this type of T-shirt"?!? Oh-Ma-Ga.

Also, from a friend and fellow conservative via email...

"...Billy has a strong constituency here in Guilford Co, as does Skip A(lston). They are two big reasons why Greensboro will not, in the forseeable future, attract the kind of high-paying jobs that are going to Charlotte & Raleigh..."

His point is well taken.  It seems that we in Guilford County just think that we can play racial politics with total abandon and to hell with the consequences like... say... civilized folks actually wanting to move here.

City Councilwoman T. Diane Bellamy-Small takes the same stance as Mayor Pro-tem Yvonne Johnson about who really owes the tax debt in the family in an un-posted N&R article today.

Bellamy-Small says that her $1,194 delinquent 2003 property tax bill is "(m)y husband's responsibility, not mine".  This statement mirrors Johnson's 2003 assertion that her husband Walter's $564,000 Federal tax bill belongs soley to him.

In my recent run for City Council, the N&R reporter covering the election found that I owed a balance on one of my property tax bills from 2002.  My reaction was swift:  I got in the car... went to the tax department... paid the tax... then called the reporter with the tax clerk's phone number so that he could confirm what I had done before he put the story "to bed".

If I had told the reporter, "Jinni pays all of the bills (which is true), it's her responsiblity"... I would be worrying about another tax bill... the one for my new bachelor's pad.

I was called on the carpet (really the phone) today by the News & Record's legal department.  I posted a copyrighted photo of Commissioner Billy Yow posing with his racist t-shirt creation and was politely asked to remove it this afternoon.

The picture was up briefly on their home page this morning but has now vanished as I knew it would... never to be seen again.  The N&R used to archive photos but they discontinued that feature months ago.

I apologized to the gentleman from the paper and assured him that it would not happen again.  Damn shame, that photo told the whole story... but now you may never see it.

It's not the fact that Guilford County Commissioner Billy Yow developed, copyrighted and is distributing a purely racist t-shirt that bothers me so much... we have come to expect racist behavior from him.  The most disturbing thing to me is the quote in this morning's N&R article from outgoing Commission Chair Bob Landreth:  "I think this will certainly serve Billy Yow in his district."

Even though District 5 is mainly rural, white and Republican I fervently hope for an outcry from them.  As a registered white Republican I will join any and all efforts to have Yow removed from office. 

If the Guilford County Republican Party fails to call for Yow's censure and resignation, I will change my affiliation.  What a jerk.
