David Hoggard's take on local politics and life in general from Greensboro, NC

In an article that has long been sent behind its pay-per-read curtain, the N&R reported on January 22nd that buildings were being domolished to make way for the new baseball stadium.

At the time, I noted I had received an email providing an update on a long forgotten court appeal that was brought against the City by the Petioner's Committee for Downtown Neighborhoods:

"...Within a few months, the Petitioner's Committee for Downtown Neighborhoods will receive a ruling from the NC Court of Appeals about whether or not a professional baseball club (the "Bats") can operate in Greensboro's Central Business District. Greensboro's zoning charts show professional baseball clubs are not a permitted use in our Central Business District and are permitted only in a special district at War Memorial Stadium. This is the remaining legal issue..."

The N.C. Court of Appeals has agreed to hear oral arguments surrounding the case and it has been placed on their docket for May 27th.  I figure some of you print media types might want to go ahead and schedule a reporter to be in Raleigh to keep us all up to speed.

That Lex confirms that the N&R is at least considering creating blogs by some of its reporters, a role in which he sometimes serves... espcially when Project Homestead was going down the tubes.  Speaking of which - its been awfully quiet on the Homestead front lately - my suspicion is that the lull won't last much longer though.

The N&R's Research Blog is always coming up with some very cool stuff like this link to all things conversion: Onlineconversion.com.  If you've always longed to know how much you weigh on Uranus - long no more.  Do you have a need to convert your name to Morse Code?:  Got it right here.  Bookmark.

Anyone who has ever had to take a couple of days off to get their license renewed in North Carolina will appreciate this from WFMY.
