The big stink in East Greensboro apparently wafted into downtown and finally reached the N&R offices. The question is... what alerted them to the story? The blog or the smell?
I have no way of knowing whether or not my local daily paper was the least bit influenced by my post on this subject yesterday which is the front page headline in this morning's edition. I do know, however, that this blog is read daily by many of the N&R's staff.
The smell of Cone's holding pond has been a problem for several weeks so it is highly probable that someone finally called their news department and they dispatched a reporter to see if there was a story to be had.... which obviously there was. The timing on this story is just a little too coincidental for me to not at least raise the question, though.
I routinely cite and/or link to my sources (including our local print media) for what you read here, it wouldn't occur to me not to. If the situation ever arises when Greensboro's local alternative and daily papers actually run with something I have brought to their attention, would it be too much of a pride buster for them to open the story with, "In a story first reported by www.HoggsBlog.com...?"
