Update 7:50p: OK Roch Smith, Jr., I get the point, you weren't ready for public consumption (Greensboro101 slid behind a password barrier after I made my original post below). I'm sure it will be a knockout once completed.... now slide me one of those passwords so I can see what all you are up to. (Roch designed my City Council campaign website last year)

I found Roch's '101' site because I am able to see where my blog's 'hits' are coming from. I can access such things in the background of my blog software, Radio Userland.  It's all RSS feed driven. My discovery method was news to Roch when he called me today to confess his authorship and intimate his plans for the site. Thanks to 'Don Moore the Other' for exposing Roch's upcoming effort in the comments below.

I'm not sure who is behind this, nor do I want to steal anyone's thunder (well, maybe I do)... but look at this: Greensboro101.com. It is a aggregation website that features updates from local weblogs. Very cool.

Last night we had a classic Aycock Neighborhood get-together.  Although any reason for a party would have sufficed, this one's excuse was across-the-street Bob's birthday - which was actually the day before... see what I mean.

Louisa (of Louisa's Paintings fame and Bob's wife) put it in motion by printing up an announcement then started calling everyone and gave them their assignments.  She would pick up the burlap bag full of oysters but Ernie's assignment was to bring his oyster steamer and gas cooker.  She bought the beer and mixers but us real men and women supplied the Bourbon.  Mia brought the Yagermeister and Red Bull.  Various neighbors brought tables and chairs and everyone brought a dish to share.  I fired up their Weber for the kid's hot dogs and whatever other pieces of meat showed up.  Also, I carrried my portable firepit across the street and sent the kids for wood to burn which was necessary for conversation and 'Smores cooking.

Although there were invitations delivered, they were only to prime the pump.  As neighbors strolled down Cypress Streeet they were waived in to the front yard and got a beer stuck in their hands.  A little out of the ordinary were the t-shirts Louisa printed up to mark the occasion.  For the adults, "Who's the Man?... Bob's the Man"... the kid's version said, "Who's your Daddy?... Bob's your Daddy".  You had to be one of the first twenty five to roll out of your house to get one - they were gone by 7:00p.

A typical night in paradise.

Publicly documenting a family's medical journey can take other forms than mere words.  Here's how a cartoonist went about it:  Mom's Cancer (link via Backwards City)
