1995 - Belden, Inc., Equipment Development Engineering Manager
1996
Managed a department of 3 electrical engineers, 5 mechanical engineers and two design technicians designing manufacturing and testing equipment unique to Belden’s automated wire and cable manufacturing processes. Also lead a twenty person project team standardizing the process machine controls for over 100 extrusion lines.
1993 - EZ Paintr Division of the Newell Corporation, Engineering Manager

Led a department consisting of 7 engineers and 21 maintenance technicians responsible for all manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, equipment design, product development engineering and maintenance for brush manufacturing. Developed a brush packaging machine and five pouching machines.
1989 - Boehringer Mannheim Corp., Manager Process & Packaging Engineering

Managed the Process and Packaging Engineering Department that developed medical device manufacturing processes, new equipment, and packages. My department developed primary and secondary packages as well as the automated packaging equipment. Used Design of Experiment and Statistical Analysis Techniques to improve machine capability to meet the Food and Drug Administration’s Good Manufacturing Practices requirements.

Manager, Automated Systems Engineering
Led an engineering department developing and applying advanced automation equipment, robotics and vision systems. Developed the first robotics application at Abbott Laboratories. Developed an automated packaging line using pick and place equipment, robots, feeder bowls and conveyor system to assemble and package hospital discharge kits.
Manager, Project Engineering
Managed a group of five project managers while managing large (over $1 million) projects. Managed and engineered the installation of five can manufacturing lines at a total cost of $8 million dollars, including all of the can conveying systems, palletizers and robot body blank feeders.
Manager of Packaging Development
Managed the design and development of primary and secondary packages, single piece drawn cans, two piece welded cans, and blow molded plastic bottles.
Manager, Columbus Plant Maintenance
Managed 80 engineers, supervisors, and technicians to meet aggressive productivity, quality, budget, instrument calibration and safety goals in 600 person infant formula manufacturing and packaging plant.

Designed and developed specialized equipment and new processes for manufacturing and packaging blood collection tubes.

1975
Developed processes and designed leading edge equipment used by Research and Development to develop new types of reflective sheeting and highway delineators. Purchased and developed the first extrusion at 3M for making reflective plastic sheeting, in addition to the converting equipment.

Designed several new and unique machines and cellophane production lines. One design let the operators reduce coating weights, saving the company over $20,000 monthly.
