My good friend Richard Schwartz (who also is a fraternity brother of mine, though many years ahead of me) writes an amusing piece on his new blog about a marketing campaign for Bud Pong, a re-branding of that fraternity-basement classic, Beer Pong.

I was a frequent patron of the Beer Pong table in the basement, and I came to college well-equipped, having misspent much of my youth playing ping pong with my brother and sister. My killer serve protected me from excessive alcohol consumption on many a Friday night.

Definitely read Richard's account of Anheuser-Busch's dramatic flip-flop on their Bud Pong promotion. They were shocked -- shocked! to discover that people were actually playing Bud Pong with (wait for it) beer! I'm sure they had absolutely no idea.
