I'm still on vacation. Found this way cool coffee shop in downtown Bozeman that was reportedly started by Glenn Close and her sister. Free WiFi. I live for coffee and WiFi.

The only news of note I've seen so far in the world of automation is a press release from ISA about having a good transition plan in place to replace its recently departed executive director. From what I hear, (and I'm a member but have never been active in its affairs) there is still too great a divide between the traditionalists who come from the instrumentation world and those who would like to move the organization forward. Sounds like the latter group is not winning.

I know there are a lot of challenges to membership organizations, but the other organization to which I belong, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers or SME, seems to be doing quite well. The two organizations started to do some work together, but the initiative seemed to fizzle after some initial joint membership promotion efforts.

These groups perform a valuable role in society and manufacturing. They deserve your support, and your pushing for modernization. Let's hope for the best.

Forgot to mention, Wes's news item To Zigbee or not to Zigbee is posted now. Good read.
