People thought Dave Harvey, Jane Gerold and I were a little crazy for starting a new magazine in 2003. Well, Automation World is going pretty well, thank you. Now here's another new magazine in the trade--Design World and DesignWorldOnline.com. One of the founders is Scott McCafferty who is our West Coast Sales Rep.
It anticipates an October 2006 launch of the Web site followed shortly by the monthly print vehicle. Billed as an engineering resource for design engineers in medical, packaging, automotive, applicance, off-highway, semiconductor, aerospace, factory automation and wireless industries. The release says, "The engineering online community will be served by the latest technology in downloadable 3D CAD models, real-time industry news, valuable product information and educational features."
The magazine is co-founded by Mike Emich and Scott McCafferty. The print version will go to over 40,000 design engineers.
