I sat in the Incuity presentation at RS TechEd yesterday and was lucky to get a seat in the overflow audience. CEO Doug Lawson gave a presentation that included philosophical background and demo all in 50 minutes or less. Much of the interest came as a direct result of Kevin Roach's keynote segment that included a mash up of various Rockwell Software components including the Incuity product. You have to see the demo to understand the power that Incuity and Pavilion bring to the portfolio.
Incuity attacks the problem of the myriad of data silos housed in a typical company. It combines a unified model, an analytics engine and a presentation engine. It's elegant in its simplicity of use. I've written about it before, but I don't have time to find the posts before I head out for the 7:30 keynote. Can't miss hearing Alvin Toffler speak. Saw him at the reception last night, but didn't get to say hi (and sound like a fan boy or something).
By the way, Roach spoke about (can't say announced, they'll be announce in November at Automation Fair in Nashville) two new products coming. One, FactoryTalk Historian Machine Edition is the embedded OSIsoft in a ControlLogix module that was predicted when the joint agreement between the companies was announced last year. They even let Roach plug in the module to a "hot" ControlLogix on stage. The 30-second configuration was handled off stage, however ;-)
The second product is "ViewPoint" a zero administration client built on Microsoft's Silverlight platform. This will be a valuable addition to the portofolio and may "one-up" the latest Wonderware presentation platform in the ongoing technology battles in the industry.
Should also mention that both Pavilion and Incuity technologies are not limited to manufacturing processes. So, don't limit your imagination as to what is possible for the Rockwell Software platform with these technologies fully implemented.
