Moore's Law is Over?
Update
[posted by Troy]
Back on
April 21, 2005, I posted something about the 40th anniversary of Moore's Law
. I just came across
this Slate article about how Intel has maxed out Moore's law
. Moore's law states that microchip power will double every 18 monhts, which has been remarkably accurate, until recently. We've now hit a point where the number of nano-transitors on a chip has become so packed that the chips over heat. Now there is a race about the country for new ways to make chips even smaller. The trouble is that it might take longer than 18 months for the next development.
