Update [posted by Troy]
Back on April 21, 2005, I posted something about the 40th anniversary of Moore's Law. I just came across this Slate article about how Intel has maxed out Moore's law. Moore's law states that microchip power will double every 18 monhts, which has been remarkably accurate, until recently. We've now hit a point where the number of nano-transitors on a chip has become so packed that the chips over heat. Now there is a race about the country for new ways to make chips even smaller. The trouble is that it might take longer than 18 months for the next development.
