I shall call it "The Alan Parsons Project" That laser story actually got me thinking about James Bond movies, and then inevitably Dr. Evil and his "Laser" from the Austin Powers films. Then I got to thinking about "Hey, what if some dorky super villain with aspirations to take over the world got hold of that technology". Then, guess what popped into my head! Bill Gates has enough cash to become the world's first super villain, build a subterranean criminal mastermind headquarters and create an evil empire the likes of which the world has never seen before. Moohaha, MOoohahahah, MOOOhahahahahahHAHAHAHAHHahaa   12:32:12 PM    comment [] Tactical High Energy Lasers work! Last week the US Army successfully conducted tests of an MTHEL, a Mobile High Energy Laser. In the tests, the device managed to shoot down multiple simultaneously fired mortar rounds. Other test have had the same device shoot down missiles and rockets. The full story is here. The US Army now has a mobile tactical laser that they are ready to deploy onto the battlefield, and that's something that seriously going to have a HUGE impact on the state of global peace; whether that's a good thing or bad thing we've yet to find out. This series of tests actually follows a set of successful tests conducted by the US Air Force where a THEL was mounted into the nose of a 747 and used to take out Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles.
