The weekend's here, and at last I get a chance to relax. Well, I get a chance to relax after I've rebuilt my Dad's PC anyway. I grabbed him online the other day and was talking to him about his new XP installation and got a quite short response along the lines of it being a pile of poo, and XP is horrible. My Dad's not a fantastic computer whizz, so XP for him should be great, and wonderfully useable, especially compared to the Me build he had on there before. But alas, it seems something nasty happened when we upgraded him a couple of weeks back and now nothing works quite the way it should. So tomorrow I'm installing XP, again.

With the rapidly approaching inter-continental move, it seems Heather and I are building a lot of computers lately. Since starting to put things up for sale we've let go of a Toshiba Satellite, 2 powerbooks, an ibook, and 2 thinkpads. At work today I posted an email that Heather's PC was also for sale along with one or perhaps even both of my gorgeous Iiyama flat screens. That brought in a shockingly large response and so I've also got to get XP Pro clean installed on that machine this weekend in order to ship it to a colleague on Monday, along with one of the monitors. He's actually considering taking the other one too and running a nice dual head configuration from the machine's Radeon. If that happens my desk is going to look very empty indeed with nothing on it but an XBox and my tiny Acer tablet. I've even tempted fate and offered my Toshiba Tablet back to Edenbrook  since my Dell is allegedly due to arrive by mid-week. So that leaves me with a few days of writing taking place on my Tablet.

Writing and developing on a 1gig Centrino tablet is anything but ideal, but it does work, even with Betas. I took the acer along to the VBUG Horsham meeting last night for my presentation on the Express tools and it bore the task admirably, despite VB Express slamming me with every single bug it could find in a 1.5hour presentation that focussed mainly on me writing code. Everyone seemed to have a great time though, and I've got to say thanks once again to Ian the regional organiser for setting up a great event and bringing along a great choice of beer. Just in case I get asked to do it all over again though I've got to trim down the amount of material - I ended up with about 3 hours worth of stuff to present but only managed to get through a fraction of what I wanted. It went well though.

So, an eventful week, and it looks like maybe this weekend won't be so relaxing after all - maybe next weekend! ;)
