Back to School There's a woman who's in town from the Greater Vancouver Historical Performance who's giving us music teachers a week-end workshop in early dance. The idea is that if we can do some of the dances, we can better teach our students how to play them because we can better feel the music.
Last night it was Renaissance dancing, and today it's Baroque. It was a lot of fun, and I learned all kinds of things I didn't know before. For instance, did you know that the heel, which was invented in the late 1500s, totally changed the way people danced? It makes sense of course but I just never thought about such a thing before.
