North to Alaska Well, truth be told, Alaska is south of here. It's a two hour beautifully scenic drive to Skagway. So that's where Greg and I took ourselves off to yesterday, me pointing out sites and giving a bit of a history lesson, he entertaining me with stories of Ernest Buckler. He kept saying, "Now what was the point of that story?" and apologizing for the stories that "kept leaking out of him." I was fascinated.
Then we came home and I fed him his first meal of caribou: caribou and wild cranberry stew with mashed potatoes and a turnip and carrot gratin, topped off with pumpkin cheese cake. I normally only make this cake for birthdays so it was rather a treat, if I do say so myself.
