Good Trans-Fat Found in Meat Ag Report - Nov 19 8:28 AM MISSISSAUGA - Nov 19/04 - SNS -- A naturally occurring trans-fatty acid called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) found in some red meats and dairy foods is attracting attention for its ability to suppress the growth of cancer tumors, strengthen bones, reduce body fat and increase muscle mass.
Dr. Myatt has written about this substance before, in the Wellness Club HealthBeat Newsletter Conjugated Linoleic Acid Reduces Body Fat Mass . It is a little bit of a misnomer to label this a "trans-fat", when we generally define trans fats as being those unnatural substances that have been chemically and molecularly altered into fats that would not otherwise occur in nature. More information on CLA, a very valuable fatty acid, can be found here: http://www.drmyattswellnessclub.com/cla.htm

Canada launches bid to ban trans fats Canada.com - Nov 24 3:26 AM OTTAWA -- Members of Parliament voted Tuesday to set Canada on a path to banning artificial trans fats despite charges such action would be heavy-handed and "assault the entire food industry" by taking on such favourite foods as store-bought doughnuts and even home-baked goods. House moves trans fat ban a step closer to law CTV.ca - Nov 24 4:06 AM Canada has taken another step towards becoming the second country in the world to legislate limits on trans fats. In a vote Tuesday evening, the House of Commons passed an NDP motion the calls for moves to virtually ban the processed fat from food sold in Canada within a year.
We at the Wellness Club applaud these moves to limit or even ban trans fats - the "Franken-fat" of the food world. These fats are terribly damaging to the human cellular makeup, and cause no end of problems. Because the body is ill-equipped to recognize and deal with these substances that have never occurred naturally, these trans fats take the place of natural and normal fats in the cell walls - where they alter cell wall permeability, weaken cell walls, and generally wreak havoc. Some more information on essential fats can be found on our website here: http://www.drmyattswellnessclub.com/essentialfats.htm
