The new Apple products are so cool, that I just have to write a post about them. Especially the Apple mini, a fully-functioning computer the size of a car radio, with a great design and a price starting at USD 499. I genuinely hope that many people will dare to make the switch to Apple.

The iPod Shuffle also looks great, although I still have some doubts about the missing screen. And because I never use shuffle (I normally create playlists in iTunes before I travel or go running with my iPod) I don't really would need that feature either. But at USD 99 it's a good way to get young kids to start using Apple products. You start with an iPod Shuffle, the year after you want an iPod Mini, and then you are so hooked on the brand that you might buy the Apple Mini right away as well (or whatever great product they have developed by then).

As you see I have really become addicted to Apple in the past 6 weeks or so. My Powerbook G4 is just great, I could not go back to Windows XP anymore. My (18 month old) iPod is having some trouble lately, especially when I leave it overnight in an unheated place, so I might buy a new battery or another one. But I still love the player, I always carry it with me. Steve Jobs for president!

Xinhua news agency just wrote that China's State Council passed guidelines on encouraging, supporting and guiding the development of the private sector at its executive meeting today.

According to a decision made at the meeting chaired by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, efforts should be made to create a sound environment for the development of the private sector economy.

Among others the private sector should be able to compete on equal footing with the public sector. Also some monopolized sectors such as public utilities will be able to attract  private funding.

You wonder why the government is still called 'communist'. China is really not that different anymore from any Western country!
