Remember back when...? Engadget goes 1985 Retro!
A picture named 7672568581380992.jpg

...and now for something completely different! Engadget today revisited 1985 by giving the site a make over using the technology that would have been available in that time, including the site's appearance as well as the products they likely would have reviewed. The scary part is that as someone who used to design and run a BBS way back then (300 baud AppleCat 212 modem baby!), I remember this like it was yesterday. Ascii art, black and white photographs, Windows 1.0! < yikes!>, the Amiga 1000, The Lisa, etc.

Lots of good memories but more importantly, it reminds us of just how fast that we've really in such a short period of time. Thankfully I got an early start an although I was a part of this period, I am only in my early 30s and can't wait to see what the next 25 years hold for us. The only difference is, instead of being a young kidding watching all of these great inventions being born, now I'm in the thick of it, working in the industry and loving it! It truly is an exciting time to be alive.

Sometimes a little perspective really is a powerful thing. Looking at the machines and technologies features in this article and then looking at the 30" Cinema display that I'm staring at which is connected to 64 bit dual processor PowerMac, all connected wireless to a high speed Internet connection, it just baffles the mind at how far we've evolved since then with many promising new developments right around the corner (WiFi Max anyone?). Be sure to read the whole piece here.

The meaning of Life (as explained in a flash animation)

I guess this pretty much sums it all up. I once heard that people laugh at comedy because it's true and often it's a truth that we would rarely admit or acknowledge otherwise. How much political humor is just so spot on because it's the complete truth only presented as satire?

A little scary just how much truth there is in this.

Thanks to Scott for posting this one.
