Windows Vista - Designed by the MPAA and the RIAA?
Every 12 to 16 months or so when Apple brings us a digital basket in the form of the Mac OS X brimming with hundreds of new features aim to make our computing lives easier and more fun. Without a doubt, ever since 10.1, each major release has brought with it substantial incentives to upgrade for most users --- and this happens almost annually.

Watching the ever changing feature set of next version of Microsoft's Windows Longhorn / Vista operating system has been a guessing game of 'what feature will they cut next?' but recently news has emerged of few new features that are raising eyebrows amoung anyone paying attention. More and more, it's becoming abundantly clear that Microsoft has absolutely sold out their users at the bequest of the entertainment industries but including some very heavy duty (if not draconian) restrictions into Vista that at first glance seem almost laughable, if only they were not true. In reading these recent stories like this one, it makes Vista look like a very foolish buy unless you really enjoy having your rights stomped into the ground all while paying for the priveledge.

I only pray that Apple never follows suit on implementing such incredibly consumer hostile 'features'

From the article:

It seems like Windows Vista is going to make certain video and sound processes in the OS protected from user access. Even worse certain devices, such as monitors and TVs that don't support this standard may not work with next generation content. Content moves forward, user rights move backward.
