Mac OS X Viruses: Put Up or Shut Up (part 1)
A picture named virus.jpg

Wil Shipley puts in his 2 cents worth regarding a lot of the ink being spilled about Mac OSX being 'relatively virus free'. I'm wondering how long before someone misconstrues Wil's request and Wil gets hassled legally for offering compensation for someone capable of writing a virus for OSX.

From the article:

All, right, I'm sick of people reporting that Mac OS X is 'mostly' virus-free. It is, as far has been proven, ENTIRELY virus-free. Macs are not magical, and one day there will be virus that infects them. However, I don't think it's happened yet, and I think it's time we, the Mac community, started saying, "No, we don't have any viruses."

Seriously, if a reporter asked you, "Hey, do you have herpes?" and you replied, "Nope, I've been tested, no herpes, never," and then they wrote an article with the headline, "Bob Smith: Mostly Herpes-Free," you would, no doubt, flip (assuming your name was Bob Smith). You'd probably sue, even. But we put up with this crap every day, mainly because it's nigh-impossible to prove the negative. We'd need to inspect every hard drive of every Mac owner in the world. So we settle with "mostly virus-free" even though, compared to Windows, we're Mother Theresa and they're Pamela Anderson.

Motorola CEO: 'Screw the nano'
A picture named edzander.jpg

Talk about a man who doesn't understand his market, Motorola CEO Ed Zander opens mouth, inserts foot once again.

Apple Computer's newest MP3 player, the iPod nano, is receiving rave reviews and analysts believe the device will solidify Apple's dominance in the competitive MP3 player market for at least another year. However, not everyone praises the device -- Motorola CEO Ed Zander had some harsh words for the nano in a recent interview.

"Screw the nano," said Zander. "What the hell does the nano do? Who listens to 1,000 songs? People are going to want devices that do more than just play music, something that can be seen in many other countries with more advanced mobile phone networks and savvy users," he said.

Yea Chief, who wants a 1000 songs, wait -- doesn't your Rokr hold only 100? Oh, and it's ugly as sin? Sign me up dipshit.

Follow-up -- A few days after I posted this, I listened to a good podcast featuring Ed Zander and despite the stupid Nano comment, he's actually fairly in turn with our world for an executive. That not withstanding, it was a really stupid thing to say Ed.
