Well, just downloaded and installed BitTorrent. Interesting stuff
at first blush. Of course, a quick search to see if last night's
Simpson's episode was anywhere turned up nothing for me.
I will need to dabble with this a bit more. Some of the posts out there are interesting, especially this one:

Of course, I could just get a TiVo and be done with it, right?

- Stupid Ravens! They shut down the best offense in the NFL,
and they still find a way to blow the game. Sometimes, when this
team makes one big stride, they find a way to take two small strides
backward. The most embarrassing moment: Matt Stover's field goal
attempt bouncing off the helmet of one of his offensive linemen.
Add to that the fact that, aside from Kevin Johnson and Todd Heap, the
other receivers need to coat their hands in pine tar to be able to hold
onto a ball. Finally, was it just me, or did Dwight Freeney
appear to be offsides a couple of times last night and was never called
for it? You would think that a good idea would be to alter the
snap count to draw him offsides, but that would sound too much like
something an intelligent offensive coordinator would do.
- Speaking of sports stuff, if the Orioles do nothing this
winter--what now appears to be a very distinct possibility--I am
officially beginning a search to put together an ownership group to buy
the team from Peter Angelos. I am confounded by his immense
mismanagement of the team and his constant caterwauls that Baltimore is
a small market. The problem is not the market, you boob, it is
the product on the field. It looks like they might dodge a bullet
with the Nationals/Expos fiasco taking place forty miles down the road,
but that is no excuse to do nothing to your team this winter. The
list of pitchers who have moved onto other teams reads like a decent
rotation: Pavano, Johnson, Martinez, Mulder, and Hudson. I
actually have to think the O's front office was smart to avoid Pavano
and Martinez, but to not make an attempt at Mulder or Hudson is just
plain foolish.
- I enjoyed a nice Christmas party on Friday evening in the
northern reaches of Baltimore. Not a bad time, but I think it
solidified that I will always drive myself to a party. I was
there much too long, and I started to drag at the end of the
party. Of course, I could not leave as I arrived with
others. I do appreciate their kindness in allowing me to carpool
with them, though. Next party, though, I drive myself.
- I watched the finale of The Apprentice
on Saturday evening with a couple of friends thanks to the beauty of
TiVo. I have to admit that after watching it, though, I pride
myself on not watching that reality drivel. It was just annoying
watching some of the contrived "problems" that arose during both
contestants final tasks. I will admit that Jennifer was smoking
hot, but anyone who participates in any of these reality shows--save
but a few--are truly egotistical and self-centered. Come to think
of it, those are two qualities I have.... In all seriousness, the
only reality show I am guilty of enjoying is Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,
and I get the impression that what those gay men do is actually helping
some poor guy who needs it--the guy who had his wife run off with his
best friend and left him with crappy furniture in his house immediately
comes to mind.
- Speaking of TiVo, I think I need that magical device. Of
course, I would need to watch enough television to truly enjoy its
benefits. That leads me to my next geeky investigation:
BitTorrent. I missed The Simpsons on Sunday, and I know my
friends did not TiVo it. So, time to read up on BitTorrent.
Anyone have any good pointers for me?
