Irish Cinema to go all DIGITAL!
According to this ENN report and this Engadget report - all Irish Cinemas are to install Digital Projectors and presumably Digital satellite receivers to replace 35 mil film and projectors.

I wonder where does this leave indie film? will it be easier or harder to get your film shown? Will you be able to send in your film on DVD-RW Mpeg4 for them to upload or will you have to pay a fortune to the encoders and satellite hosters and broadcasters? Somehow - I think the latter! It would be totally cool if digital film guys could easily get their films to theatres withouth having to finance truckload of expensive 35mm film :-)
