my first known blog to read was the Channel 9 team and at first, it was a bit bewildering. without much knowledge about comments, RSS, etc - blogs didn't resemble anything familiar. nothing wrong with their format and content, but I personally didn't get it. rather than giving up, it was time for a quick google search on blogs and not surprisingly, many topics appeared.

as luck would have it, Rick Bruner's excellent site was chosen.  for someone who has never blogged and wants to get a  good feel about blogging, Rick's place is one of the best places to start. lot's of examples of blogs in their various forms/uses. recently, while teaching a new entrepreneur about blogs, i strongly suggested she go to Rick's for an overview on blogs. for me, his site was a springboard into a vast ocean of information. for me, he was and has been an excellent guide to the possibilities of the blog.

after discovering Rick's site, i whizzed around the blogosphere getting to know more about blogging. back in those days, the very term blog was still in question as appropriate in the business world. one of my first comments left at Rick's was a sharply worded retort to a media consultant who insisted that the term blog was "dirty" and connotated little teenagers chatting about their supposedly meaningless lives. my basic response to Mr. Consultant was that perception was reality and if the world wanted to call it a blog, then it would be called a blog. he was also informed that he might want to pay attention to the dirty little teenaged bloggers as they represented billions of dollars to the CEOs that he consulted with. back then, the refusal to accept blogging was still quite apparent.

fortunately, acceptance of blogging has rapidly increased and even the term, blog has become quite easy to use - even in boardrooms across the globe. why, even uptight consultants can now say it out loud without having to wash themselves later. funny, how quickly things change....tomorrow, more on learning the ropes....stay tuned.
